Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your information when you play Footle, the football Wordle where you guess a player's surname in six tries. Short version: there's no account, your progress never leaves your device, and the only outside party involved is Google AdMob, for ads.
1. No account, no sign-up
The App does not require you to create an account and does not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information to let you play.
2. Information stored on your device
Your level progress, saved boards, hints, coins balance, statistics, and settings (hard mode, high contrast, haptics, daily reminder) are stored only on your device. This information is never transmitted to us or to any server we control. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes it.
3. Advertising
The App shows banner and optional rewarded video ads using Google AdMob. To serve and measure these ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, general location, and ad interaction data, and may use it to personalize ads. This processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy, not by us. We do not receive or store this data ourselves.
On iPhone and iPad, the App asks for permission before your advertising identifier can be used for tracking (App Tracking Transparency). You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
4. Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Where the law requires it, the App asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy choices. If you decline, ads may still be shown, but they will not be personalised.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules an optional daily reminder entirely on your device using your operating system's local notification system. No reminder data is sent to us or to any server. You can turn it off in Settings → Daily reminder or in your device's notification settings.
6. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App itself collects no personal information, this mainly concerns the advertising described above. Parents who are concerned about ad tracking should use their device's parental controls or ad-tracking settings.
7. Data sharing and sale
We do not sell your information, because we do not collect any beyond what is described above. Any data processed by Google for advertising is subject to Google's own policies, not ours.
8. Your choices
You can delete all locally stored App data at any time by uninstalling the App. You can change your ad consent in Settings → Privacy choices (where available), and limit ad personalization and tracking through your device's operating system settings, as described in Section 3.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the ‘Last updated’ date above and, for material changes, make reasonable efforts to notify you within the App.
